The first fashion show is behind us!
For the first time, the Shika brand had the opportunity to present itself live at the fashion event Slow Fashion Weekend, 12. which took place on November 12 and 13 at the famous Aquarius Club in Zagreb. Launched by the creative collective Artizanat, Slow Fashion Weekend gathered independent designers to promote sustainability and slow fashion.
The audience attending this fashion show had the opportunity to see the latest collections of 20 young exhibitors who presented their work in a showroom presentation.
Shika was one of several local fashion designers presenting at this year’s fashion event.
Colorful, fascinating, excellent quality = SHIK
Slow Fashion Weekend was a great opportunity to showcase Shika’s new Fall/Winter 2022 collection. Shika has achieved its goal of showing sustainable fashion that everyone can wear. Each piece of the new collection is carefully made and produced in Croatia following sustainable standards.
The designer Klara put a lot of passion and effort into each of her clothes. It was a pleasure to see the models “bring them to life”. The Shika models appeared with exciting and eye-catching makeup, which was a combination of a simple and minimalist look that emphasized, even more, the colors and design of the new collection.

“It’s a great feeling! Seeing the models in the new Shika collection was amazing and very exciting. I’m very proud of everything. We did a great show and had a great time as a team. When the team has a good mood, the performance is much better,” says Klara.
The collection left a great impression based on the reception and standing ovations. Here are some photos that says more than words.

Sustainable, slow fashion: What is it about?
As a community, we’ll all soon have to turn to sustainable fashion. As we know, the fashion and textile industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world.
We overfill our closets, buy clothes only because they’re on sale, don’t pass on clothes, and keep and throw away clothes we can still wear. This is something that each of us needs to think about and work on.
Another factor is big companies that pollute the environment with mass production and exploit children as labor. Even if they’re the big players in the industry, we always have a choice.
We can buy clothes from smaller manufacturers who care more about quality than quantity. Buying from smaller, local manufacturers is enough to make a big difference.
The Shika collections are produced in small quantities, with the help of local creators and manufacturers, and each garment has passed through several hands that work it with love and attention.
Klara also announced that she plans to introduce clothing production from recycled materials in the future.
Klara’s view of fashion
Fashion is subjective, just like all other tastes. Something I feel comfortable in isn’t necessarily the same for someone else. Something I feel comfortable in today doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll still feel comfortable in the same garment 10 years from now, and yet I can. Clothes that are “trendy” today, why wouldn’t they be “trendy” 10 years from now? Why should the colors we wear be based on the season? Why can’t we wear bright spring colors in the middle of a gloomy winter? Why shouldn’t we wear something from the past again, not when fashion trends tell us it’s “back in style”?
These are all questions that are floating around in my head on this subject, and my answer is, “Why not?”. Each of us should follow our feelings, not fashion trends. This is what distinguishes small manufacturers, who offer unique pieces born from their feelings and visions, not determined by fashion trends.
And this is exactly the message of the new Shika collection:
“Feel good in your clothes, be casually stylish, and stand out!”
Positive reviews
Our first appearance at the fashion show was a success, and we’re very grateful to everyone who supported us. Everyone was excited about the new collection, from the audience to fashion professionals and all those who support the concept of slow fashion.
Shika managed to present its mission and convey an important message: to slow down the fashion cycle and design clothes with a sense of responsibility and an eye for timeless design. Shika’s design quality and attention to detail left a strong impression.
We had the best time exchanging ideas with other fashion designers committed to creating sustainable garments. It was a great weekend, and we’re glad to be part of this fashion story. We look forward to future SFW and all the other fashion shows and events we’ll be presenting at.
Stay tuned for more updates as Shika plans big things in the future. And if you were there, we hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did!
